Uncommon resident but increasing.

Chamaecyparis spp. x Cuprocyparis or Juniperus spp. with larva mining the leaves from September to May.

Larvae feed in a similar way to A. trifasciata but A. trifasciata normally complete feeding a month or two earlier than A. cupressella. A. cupressella larvae have brown heads while those of A. trifasciata are black.
