Rare resident

A submontane species, within the region it is confined to the high ground of the Stiperstones in Shropshire and Staffordshire moorlands.

Mines the leaves of cowberry, Vaccinium vitis-idaea, forming a fine gallery leading to a blotch in the centre of the leaf. Mines can be found between August and May, with the larva overwintering in the mine.
Adult emergence takes place over an extended period from late May to August.
