Etainia sericopeza

(Zeller, 1839)21 / 4.074
=Ectoedemia sericopeza

Uncommon resident but spreading.

First generation larvae feed in the samaras of Acer platanoides with a short gallery mining into the seeds. Pupation takes place in a cocoon on the surface of the samara which often falls from the tree. The second generation at first mine the petiole before feeding on a flower-bud and then forming a cocoon on this. Both generations may also form cocoons on the trunk and adults may also be found resting there.
